Lyrics...

Had a hankering to listen to some old music, and I remembered that I had some music I originally had on tape on cd now. Amazing! It reminded me of how certain lyrics created (and still do create) a story in my mind.

Moev's "Yeah, Whatever" album used to do that all the time for me. Been relistening to "Wanting" and I'm amazed at how it still resonates for me, even as it did so many years ago, dancing in a tiny little South American alternative club.

"Agony is born of desire...That's what you get for wanting"

And then there's The Cure's "Burn" from the soundtrack for the Original The Crow movie.

Now, I have to hunt down my Sisters of Mercy...I really want to listen to "First, and Last and Always." What the hell is it about tortured, twisted desire, huh?

Writing, finally!

Frankly, I dunno how people do it w/o going crazy. Like, insane in the membrane.

Parenting and writing, sometimes it seems like you'll never geet anything done. The time you steal to write is time away from other things that make your everyday life run more smoothly. And it's hard to not resent the interruptions when you are in the midst of writing.

I'd promised myself that this would be a forum solely for writing, but inevitably, other aspects of RL come barging in. When it's been an exhausting week, it's hard to even get in the mood, much less not fall asleep at the laptop.

Dunno what I'm trying to say. I guess I feel lame, for not getting more done, impatient because of interruptions, frustrated that I have projects that I've put off, guilty that I'm distracted, and seeing how works in my preferred genres are taking off...just arrrrgh. Woulda, coulda, shoulda. Time to put on some Icon of Coil and pretend I'm dancing while I sit here and try not to reawaken a sleeping soon-to-be one-year-old.

Words and Stuff.

Mostly words.

53,510. Done for the night. I'm falling asleep, and have just a few words to finish a chapter and post it for my writing group, [Bad username: nightshadetearoom]. Wow, just trying to type that, I made more typos...seeing cross-eyed. Tired.

Wish I was closer to 100K, esp. with my self-imposed deadline of April 1st looming. Bugger. But won't get upset. I'll be happy that I'm this much closer to finishing.

Visits!

Been having a lot of non-writerly (term snagged from [info]laurendane) fun, with out of town friends for a visit! Makes me miss home a lot, especially when I see how I've missed bellydancing, birthdays and all sorts of mayhem. Oh, and the Cali sunshine. But today we are up to a whopping 64 degrees in my part of OH, and sincerely hoping this means a change towards the spring. Walking in the "spring rain" today felt wonderful!

It's wonderful to see my friends with a kid. They make great parents, and are so obviously happy. Yaay, them! Through them got to find out about how MySpace has worked for his band, The Myriad Form. I'll put their link up soon, one I crack that HTML thingy, so you anyone can hear their music. I love "The Ocean Deep." Severina Sol's vocals are WONDERFUL!!! V. evocative.

Well, back to things writerly and all.

*wink*

So, I didn't make it to 1K today, but was just under 200 words shy. Ch.11 will be done by next "SIt Down and Write, Beeatch! Day"

Oh, and guests coming on Tuesday, so will not have time to write for squat from then till Thursday night.

Sleep now, must tend to midgets later, esp. the sick one.

Aphrodesia Website

"Now, I'll search and see if Aphrodesia has a similar site to Brava Authors."

I went to look for one, but all i could find was the blogspot: http://theaphrodisiaauthors.blogspot.com/ Which is nice, but at the same time, it seems like Kensington isn't backing them up enough. It seems to be independently run, and not set up by like the Publisher, like Brava Authors. Hrmmm.

Also found info on Dear Reader.com: http://dearauthor.com/wordpress/2006/05/26/misinformation-or-affirmation-you-be-the-judge/

I know Brava is well-established, and I remember seeing the first Aphrodesia titles come out, but DA-YAMn! Maybe someone can point me in the right direction. Gotta say I loved the images, and i like the individual authors' sites.

Licks!

Can I tell you....

[info]magickalmiriam, you are sooooooo damn creative! Been looking at your Flikr thingies, and I am very impressed! Yeah, yeah, it's not writing, but it's creative! So, enjoy the break from everything, and have fun at Borders tonight! Oh, and DON"T SPEND ANY MONEY!!!! (bwah hah hah)

Okay, pick up something from Aphrodesia, will ya? *EG*

Also, have figured out: Soundtrack for "Love, Actually" though fun, is NOT conducive to writing my erotic romance. Ya figure? All though, remembering the first song, "Christmas is All Around" (first song in the movie, not soundtrack) makes me BELLYLAUGH! Something about British movies where someone swears like a sailor/trucker/teacher on holiday. What was it? "Bugger, bollocks, shite, fuck shit?" Dunno, makes me laugh. Too bad he doesn't muck up and actually curse on the cd.

What do you like to listen to when you write? Is it mood dependant? I have to say, that sometimes, I need something in a language I don't understand. Or just beautiful and flowing. For my current Erotic Romance, "Soul of Desire (SOD for short)," I'm stuck on Sasha Lazard. If I was cool or some such, I might actually put a link to her, but I've slowly been hemorrhaging HTML. Her "Myth of Red" cd is AWESOME, and just gives me shivers. And then there's anything Celtic. Altan is a favorite. And Loreena McKennit ( SO SUPER THRILLED she has a new album out. -- Huge sadness is that, although we are going to Los Angeles, we will be there about 4 days after she plays there!!!) The next heartrending thing to learn will be if Nick Cave is touring w/Grinderman or the Bad Seeds, and I miss it. Somehow, don't see him making it to Ohio.

Was listening to Rockabye Baby's cd, Lullaby versions of The Cure. LOVE LOVE LOVE this. Plus, made me think of all the wonderful lyrics that Robert Smith came up with. And reminded me I have a story on the backburner tentatively titled "In Between Days." But first to finish here.

So, back to the topic...tell me what's making your fingers fly on the keyboard, or just got you in the mood. And what is it about it?

50K!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Okay, so it's not anything monumental, if you've been doing this for a while...but after starting and stopping numerous stories, manuscripts, etc., it's heaping craploads of exciting for me!

50,095 words tonight! Woot!

That means that my erotic romance, a rendition of the Cupid/Eros and Psyche myth, is about halfway done! I'm shooting for Novel length, so that's about 100K. Now, I have to see how I'm going to meet my self-imposed deadline of April 1st. Yikes!

Right now, I need to stop, my brain is full, and my throat is scratchy, so I want to sleep. My pillow-top mattress is calling!

Thank you [info]magickalmiriam for your ideas and just for listening! Made a heapin' gremlin in the road into just a bump!

I love love love the ladies of the Nightshade Tearoom!

[info]rhiannonkelly! Let's catch up some more! And let me know when you post more of your latest story!
So, I trolled around, looking at LJ's for other people listing erotic romance as an interest. I found a couple of authors I'll have to check out. I'm always excited to see people getting out and doing some publicity.

*sigh* Aren't interruptions great?

March 12th, 2007

So, this is the first, of hopefully many, posts to get on the path to publishing my Erotic Romances. Figure I can spread the word about The Nightshade Tearoom, and try and get our ladies something to talk about.

So, I actually will have something else to procrastinate with and fritter my time away! Heh heh heh! But it's so much fun to write about writing, even if it is to bitch about what's keeping you from the actual act. So I think I'll go to DarkPinupGirls and oggle, and eventually see if anyone has some public domain pics, or pics that can be used, with credit given, for my website. That would be nice.

And now, I give you eye-candy:
